I’m still continuing on my journey around the cafés and restaurants of Perth.
A recent stop was The Hardware Store & Eatery.
The cafe is quite close to my house so on a busy afternoon when we didn’t have much time, we decided to take the short trip down! As the nane suggests, it used to be a hardware store… shocked to find that out!
There are tools and gardening equipment placed around the walls and exposed brick here and there. The cutlery is in toolboxes and I loved the style of the tables, a glass covered pallet… Something different I guess.
It was a hot day in Perth so it was juices all round from the menu!
To eat, we decided on the Gormet Chicken Burger and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Both were served with root vegetable crisps.
My choice was the Gormet Chicken Burger. I was pretty disappointed with my burger, for $22, I did not expect to find a piece of processed chicken on my plate . Considering everything else in the plate was healthy and the price, I thought I’d have grilled chicken on my plate. The slaw was dry and soft and it stayed on my plate! I definitely didn’t enjoy it and I would not order it again!
I also tasted the Pulled Pork Sandwich. It was definitely the better dish of the two! The slaw was also dry and tasteless but the pork with well seasoned and juicy…I wish I had ordered it!
Unfortunately, the juice was also a disappointment. There was a lot of water in it which diluted the summer flavours that should have been present.
I don’t think I will be in a rush to go back to The Hardware Store & Cafe Eatery. At the time of publishing, the cafe had an Urbanspoon rating of 72% from 267 votes so obviously some customers have had a better experience.
Somewhere else to try in the area is Pizzaca, also in Scarborough.
My Rating: ♥♥
