I always knew Christmas was going to be a good day and I’m so glad it was as much fun as it turned out to be. It wasn’t a Traditional Christmas but it was a good one!
In Ireland, you are definitely not sitting relaxing at the beach at 11am catching a few rays before Christmas dinner.
We did the usual opening of presents early Christmas morning followed by starting the turkey. We had an hour before we were going to the beach so I made the most of the pool!
There were so many people at the beach that morning and I was so surprised to see so many cafes and bars open, it was strange! We met with friends and stayed around for a few hours.
Soon it was back to the house to get dinner under way for 3pm.
The table was set and we were ready to go. I cooked a few things the day before to save myself from pulling my own hair out.
I’ve got to say, the table looked amazing when it was all set. I think I was more excited about all of the food than I was about it being Christmas.
Our guests arrived and the drinks were flowing. I was busy in the kitchen getting everything together.
So up was so in ready and everyone was seated around the table. I made a Homemade Vegetable Soup with lots of bread rolls of course! I was delighted with the results and so was everyone else…success 1!
Next up….you guessed it! Main course!
As preparations progressed, I realised that I had forgotten a very important part… the mash potato! With some help, dinner was rescued!
We had Turkey, Irish gammon, stuffing, carrots, Brussels sprouts, brocolli, mash, garlic potatoes and gravy sent over by my aunt. It was a great dinner and I loved all of the compliments of course!
We were disappointed there were no Christmas movies on tv but we were prepared and had Elf and Home Alone 1 & 2 to keep us entertained for the evening.
I was so thankful for my little Perth family and the great day we all had. I still missed my family and friends at home 💜
