BushTucker Wine Tours | Margaret River

I was excited to be able to take my first Spring/Summer trip to Busselton two weekends ago.

A group of us travelled down from Perth on Friday night before our wine tour with Bushtuckers Tours on Saturday morning.

We were first to be picked up at our rented house before picking up in a few more passengers and making our way to Margaret River.

Our first stop was the Driftwood Estate where we were happy to see the fire lit on a chilly morning.

As it was our first stop, we spent a little time learning ‘how to taste the wine’ which was extremely helpful. We tasted quite a few wines here, my favourite being the dessert wine.

After a few wineries, we went to Knotting Hill where we were having lunch. I had been to this particular winery on a previous wine tour so I was happy with the lunch choice. As we did or wine tasting, our lunch was set up.

This time, I was a little more adventurous and tried a few red wines. I loved the Melbec! The Sparkling Pink Moscato was also a favourite with the group so two bottles were purchased to enjoy with lunch.

I was worried that the lunch would mainly be a salad but in true bushtucker fashion, there were quite a few elements that I had never tried before. This was my first taste of crocodile which slightly resembles chicken, only a little drier. There was a great mix of meats and antipasto dips and additions. To accompany all of this, there was a loaf of sun-dried tomato loaf and Turkish bread. It wouldn’t be a bushtucker tour if there weren’t a few grubs a long the way..it’s safe to say I didn’t put my hand up to try them!
Lunch was delicious and filling so we were all satisfied leaving.

After lunch we visited the Fermoy Estate, the Margaret River Cheese Factory and the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, all of which I had been to previously.

My favourite afternoon stop was The Grove.

Here we met one of the most humorous hosts of the day! We were there to taste liqueurs but the banter was great as well as the beautiful setting with the cellar door overlooking the lake and waterfall.

As always, our evening ended at a brewery. Any brewery I’ve been to doesn’t specifically do tastings so it is up to you purchase something.

If you are choosing a full day tour, Bushtucker Tours is $100 per person and is definitely worth checking out.
It is value for money as there is a Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer if you have the Entertainment Book. To see what is available, check out the website here.

To finish our evening, we decided to get dropped off in Busselton to go for Fish & Chips followed by a few social beverages at The Fire Station.

  1. I’ve always wanted to try the Bushtucker tours. The problem with Margaret River is that there are so many wineries and breweries that I never know which ones to go too, so it’s great if someone can make the choice for you. I’ve heard good things about The Grove, that will definitely be on the list for my next trip.
