Hylin | West Leederville

I’ve been a busy bee lately eating out around tone but I was delighted to have a blogger breakfast with Angela from Diary of Ange.

Hylin is somewhere neither Angela or I had been and it is an easy place to meet. Very recently, I have been to Tracks which is just down the street and knew that parking was close to a nightmare in the area.

We grabbed a table before the early morning rush, gosh it got busy! We chatted for a little while before looking at the menu. I had to make a decision between the Breakfast Bruschetta ($14.50) and the Chicken Bagel ($9). I decided on the Breakfast Bruschetta and Angela went for the same paired with a Cappuccino and a English Breakfast Tea. I thought the menu prices are extremely reasonable, which was surprising but brownie points for Hylin on this matter.

Service was very quick and we didn’t wait long for our drinks. Huge fan of the coffee art! Coffee was delicious, I considered a take away when we were leaving but it was a rather hot day so I’ll say it for a cooler day.

As mentioned previously mentioned, the service was rather quick so we didn’t wait long for breakfast to arrive to our table.
The presentation of the dish looks great but where is the bruschetta, I didn’t order a salad? Needless to say, I did not enjoy this dish at all as I do not eat salad. After removing all of the irrelevant greenery, there was a slice of sourdough, a few halved cherry tomatoes, a few pieces of chopped tomato, crumbed feta and one egg. I may as well have ordered Eggs on Toast (12.50). Although it looks great, I was hungry so this is most definitely not a dish I would consider ordering ever again!
Angela on the other hand, is a little bit more healthy than I am and ate all of her irrelevant greenery. She enjoyed the dish and finished it. We both agreed on the fact that it definitely should not be called ‘Bruschetta’ as it does not represent the name what so ever.

I guess I would probably come back and try something different on the menu. On a return visit, I would double check what I was ordering or maybe go for my original second option, the Chicken Bagel.

Based on the food, Hylin does not rate highly for this visit but I promise to give it a second chance!
