I was privileged to be amongst those invited to the Long Table Lunch to launch The Light Up Leederville Carnival on Sunday the 6th of December.

The carnival will showcase Leederville’s local businesses and traders throughout the day as well as many more fantastic activities. The free event is family friendly and will run from 12pm-9pm.

Head to the website to check out the full event list and maps.

Highlights of the Day:
  •  200 market stalls
  • Street performances
  • Kiddie rides
  • Bring a light to join in with the “Light Up’ at 7.30pm
  • Secret Walls X Australia battle starts at 5pm

The Long Lunch kicked off with an introduction to the event and a few short speeches by members of Leederville Connect, The Mayor, a representative of Rohan Jewellery who have sponsored the fireworks. We also heard from a representative from Synergy who will supply renewable energy for the event.

We were entertained throughout the lunch by XFactor famed, Sydnee Carter who sang songs from the album she is currently recording as well as a few covers.

Back to the most important thing…the food! Here are my favourite’s from the lunch.

Gusman Y Gomez famous corn chips with freshly made guacamole an Pica De Gallo (tomatoe salsa)– Absolutely loved this dish, the chips were fresh and the salsa was delicious!

Duende – Jamon Serrano and Leek Croquetas w Alioli– This was my favourite dish of all the courses! Yum! The flavour, the size and texture were all perfect. I have eaten in Duende before and this dish made me want to go back.

Bricklane – Bricklane Onion Bhaji- This was full of flavour, and the colour is amazing.  The texture of the bhaji was soft inside with a perfect crunch on the outside.

Pinchos – Chicken and Chorizo Paella with lemon and Parsley– This dish was packed with flavour and seasoning. There were large chunks of juicy chicken and slices of chorizo. This dish was probably my second favourite of the day.

Alternative Bites – Gluten free Caribbean chocolate Cake– This was absolute foodie heaven. There was so much chocolate in the cake but it was surprisingly light and delicious.
