Scarborough Beach Bar | Scarborough

If you are after a beach setting for your breakfast, Scarborough Beach Bar is definitely somewhere to consider.
It is perched on the second floor of a building along the main Scarborough stretch with a perfect view of the bright blue ocean.

I met with the two Ms. Ds for breakfast over the holidays. And as we live close by, we thought that Scarborough would be the perfect location for a catch up.

We grabbed one of the long tables on the balcony and then had a look at the menu. My old friend, the potato hash was featured on quite a few dishes and Miss. D had asked what it tasted like and if I would recommend she try it, of course I recommended it.
I opted for the Kessler Smoked Bacon ($21) and asked to swap the roquette for spinach which wasn’t a problem. Both Ms. D’s ordered the same dish, the Malibu Breaky ($18).

I ordered a Long Black with milk, Miss. D ordered her usual Mocha and Ms. D ordered her usual Flat White.
We were all fans of the drinks we ordered, my long black was quite a strong blend and Miss. D’s was missing a marshmallow.

First to arrive were the Malibu Breakys. There were quite a few healthly elements on this dish and rather rich in colour. The potato rosti went down a treat, maybe I have gained a new lover of the potato rosti..whoop!

The ladies loved that they were given the option to add butter to their toast, it’s a simple thing but if you wanted a healthy breakfast, this is the wag to go. Every element was seasoned beautifully, particularly the grilled tomato which went down a treat. The eggs were both beautifully poached and sat on a nice bed of wilted spinach. The mushrooms and avocado added more flavour and texture to the dish.

With so many elements on this dish, both ladies found it rather filling…mini food coma on finishing the dish.

My dish was equally delicious! Just look at the tickness of the bacon. I haven’t seen this cut of bacon very often, I know it as ‘gammon’ and I love it, so happy to see it arrive on my plate. It’s a crucial element to one of my favourite Irish dishes, Bacon & Cabbage.

There was also a huge mound of freshly dressed spinach making me feel as healthy as my company. I was delighted that the chef was happy to change my roquette for spinach, little things like that make you enjoy the dish even more. Like the other two dishes, I had a tasty potato rosti and a perfectly poached egg. The beans were a nice addition to the breakfast and added a little spice. I liked that they were in their own ramekin so I could take as much or as little as I wanted with each bite.

I would definitely order this dish again and again!

By the end of our breakfast, we were all rather full and the walk we planned to take didn’t happen. Next time, I will know to plan the walk before the breakfast.

Other places I have tried in Scarborough are the Health Freak Cafe for a healthy breakfast and a smoothie and The Local Shack for a big portioned guiltly meal.
