FOOD: Sweet Treats Delivered To Your Door

Treat Mill by Lisa Carolan

I was delighted to receive a box of tasty treats from the crew at Treat Mill. The box was packed with treats that have are trending in Australia this month.

Treat Mill search for the tastiest treats and sweets around Australia and send them straight to your door. Luckily for me, I received the latest one!
The website is great and allows users to shop their  favourite treats directly from the box suppliers.

The first thing I was attracted to was the Salted Caramel Popcorn by Victorian company Cobs . I love caramel and I love popcorn, what could possibly go wrong.

With caramel on my mind, I wanted to try the New Farm Confectionary Salted Caramel. New Farm Confectionary hand make their sweet treats and are based in Brisbane. I loved that the packaging was clear and I could see the sweets. The initial taste is the caramel and then bam…the saltiness. They were delicious and I couldn’t help myself from having a second one.

My partner was keen to try the Popnut Brittle by The Australian Sweet Co, based in Victoria. This family business has a lot of experience with sweet making and strives to provide traditional style sweets. This was quite the interesting treat starting with the rough finish but what excited me most was the combination of roasted peanuts and chewy popcorn. It’s the kind of snack you keep nibbling on without  realising how much you have eaten.

Perfect with a cup of tea, I accompanied the Biscuit Dates from The Bakery’s King. The company sell a variety of sweet treats which are freshly baked and can be enjoyed in their cafe in Bass Hill or taken away. The biscuit itself was a little broken but the packaging was well sealed so it was still fresh.

The last piece in the box was the apple flavoured Federation Chocolate by a Tasmanian company who source ingredients from local producers where possible. This wasn’t my personal favourite, I have never tasted apple flavoured chocolate but I found it quite bitter. Federation Chocolate have lots more product options so I’m sure there is something there to suit my tastebuds.
