The Sandbar- Scarborough

As you might have read in previous posts, my sister is over from Ireland so the opportunity arose to take her to Scarborough to see the beautiful beaches of W.A.

Breakfast was a must so we went to The Sandbar. I have been here before for drinks and catch ups but never for breakfast. Let’s face it, breakfast always feels better when you are by the ocean.

On arrival we were told we could sit where we wanted so decided to make the most of the sunshine and sat outside. There were menus on the table so we got right to it.

It took quite some time for our order to be taken, we ended up having to ask to order. I was torn between the S’more French Toast ($11) and the Sandbar Eggs ($18), two guesses as to which breakfast I went for? The eggs, of course! Mini Me was feeling very many item on the menu so she decided on the Eggs 3 Ways? You Choose ($13) with the addition of sausages ($4.50). I ordered a Long Black w/milk and Mini Me ordered a Mocha.

After about fifteen minutes, a Mocha arrived to the table and just before Mini Me could take a sip, it was whipped off the table and given to another table. Another twenty minutes had passed and the breakfast arrived but still no sign of the coffee. We were hungry so we made do with the water on the table. I looked over at Mini Me as she took her first bite and wondered why she made the face she did when she literally had scrambled eggs on toast…it was cold! There is nothing worse than cold scrambled eggs…yuck! The sausages were also cold and hard so she didn’t really enjoy them either. Quite the disappointing beach breakfast.

Unfortunately, the disappointment didn’t stop there. My eggs were cold and way overcooked! There was quite a lot of hollandaise sauce over the eggs which was also cold and very thick. The best bit of the dish was the fresh salmon as the spinach was also cold and tasteless.

I definitely would not order the dish again.

We were nearly finished our breakfast by the time our coffees arrived and Mini Me ended up getting a Cappuccino instead of a Mocha so she was less than impressed with my breakfast choice.

I had not shown Mini Me the best of Scarborough breakfast so I think I will return to the trusted The Local Shack, Health Freak or Scarborough Beach Bar if we decide on a beach breakfast in future.
