If you are visiting Melbourne, The Peninsula Hot Springs is a must visit.
Peak season is during the cold months in Melbourne. We booked a 10am session which meant we could stay as long as we wanted.
We stopped off at Coles and purchased some large bottles of water, fruit, some chocolate and a sandwich each.
Check in is a very easy process the price depends on on/off peak times; $35-45. I would definitely recommend using a locker to avoid carrying your belongings from pool to pool. One locker was enough to store everything for both of us ($5 for the day).
We got changed, had a quick shower and started to make our way around the pools. There is a fantastic variety of pools ranging from 28-42 degrees and some even have bubbles. The springs have a beautiful lake in the centre, this is where we had our picnic lunch, we were glad we repurchased goodies. We bought also bought some hot beverages from the cafe. There are some beautiful decks around the lake to enjoy your lunch.
After lunch, we started to make our way to the upper pools where the water was getting warmer. Along this pathway, there is a Turkish Bath and a Cold Plunge Pool. Neither of us were brave enough to jump in but we saw a few people who braved it.
The pool with the view is all the way at the top of the path. Unfortunately, this is one you might have to queue for as people are generally not keen to get out to let the shivering bodies in. From here you can see far and wide, including Moonah Links Golf Course which is a beautiful place to stay if you fancy making a night of it. I was lucky enough to stay for two nights for a work function on a previous occasion and we had a free shuttle over to the Hot Springs from the resort.
When your skin is wrinkled, the day doesn’t have to stop there. This area has a few wineries to visit for wine tastings or lunch/dinner.
A few other noteworthy spots are Arthur’s Seat and the beautiful beach town of Sorrento.
⦁ Bring some snacks. There is a small cafe but options are limited.
⦁ Don’t forget a towel or you can rent one on arrival for $5.
⦁ A robe is a great item to bring so your towel remains dry for your shower at the end of your visit. There is an option to rent one for $10.
⦁ Early mornings and early in the week is a great time to book as it is not quite as busy.
