I’m so glad that we are getting out a little more to explore our nearby cafes. Fitzroy is so close by and there are some awesome cafes around. I looked up Faraday’s Cafe some time ago and it seemed to slip further down my never ending list. Anyway, we made it and it is nestled amongst the typical styled terraced houses of Fitzroy.
Parking is tricky on the street as there is a mixture of permit and hourly signage. Don’t be deceived by the outside, there is ample seating indoors and at the back of the venue. We decided to enjoy the sunshine out front.
The menu is great. I had a few options to decide between, with that said, it means I have another reason to come back again. Mr. B went with Chilli Scrambled Eggs ($18.50) and I debated between the Baked Beans ($17.50) and the House Smoked Salmon & Fritters ($21.50) and ended up choosing the fritters. As usual, we ordered two Long Blacks also.
How good do the Chilli Scrambled Eggs look! They were light and fluffy and you really can’t go wrong with fresh chilli. There is an extra egg in this one so if you order yours and it looks a little smaller, that will be why.
I loved my dish and I’d have loved more of the stuffed jalapeno poppers, it was scrumptious! I enjoyed the fritters, mainly because they are usually filled with sweetcorn and I’m not a fan…none to be seen here. The poached egg was perfect, the chilli jam added a little spice and I love salmon. Overall, a great dish and a very filling one at that!
We had a wonderful experience at Faraday’s Cage and plan to bring some visiting friends in the next few weeks.
