If you are looking for something to do this summer in Melbourne, the Moonlight Cinema is a great option!
It is set up in the Botanical Gardens and best accessed from the Domain Rd entrance. We figured this out the long way as we walked around 20minutes to get there from the Richmond entrance. The set up is exactly as you can imagine, giant inflatable screen, lots of bean bags and picnic baskets filled with food and drinks.
The movie starts when the sun goes down, on launch night, this was after 9pm so it’s something to consider if you are an early riser.
The program is set until the end of January and dates following that are yet to be decided but the line up looks like a mix of old favourites and new movies.
Tickets are purchased online and there is an option to book a bean bag if you don’t have one of your own.
What you can buy when you get there:
- Pizzas and fries
- Snacks including popcorn
- Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- Blankets
Don’t Forget:
- Bean bag
- Blanket- it gets chilly
- Bug repellent- you will be eaten alive as there are so many bugs around
- Food and drinks
