What a beautiful and authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne! You can expect, great food and attentive service if you visit Good Nights Restaurant.
We nabbed a great table by the window on arrival and were given the food and wine options for the evening. Our waiter asked if we would like to start with a drink, we wanted to get a bottle of wine and were not sure which one to get. He recommended one of the most beautiful bottles of wine that we had ever tasted and was extremely helpful when we were on sure about a few of the menu items and how much food to order.
We started with the Betel Leaf Lamb ($8) and it was scrumptious!
I’ve had a betel leaf dish before and it was quite overpowered by the betel leaf and that was not the case with this dish. We loved the yoghurt and mala chili oil so much that we kept it our next dish.
Next up were the Rice Paper Rolls ($16).
We really enjoyed these because we actually made them for ourselves! We opted for the chicken as our protein and every other food item you could think of was supplied to make our rice paper rolls. We had a great giggle throughout this dish as they varied in size shape and everything else you can imagine! Most importantly, they were delicious and the ingredients were fresh!
To follow the rolls was the World-Famous Pho ($16)!
After tasting it, I agree that it is earned that title. We absolutely loved it and after the other dishes we had, a small beef with brisket and rare beef was enough to share. That said, we loved the flavours of this pho so much that we probably would have slurped up any sized bowl! I’ve tasted many and they are all so different, it really depends on who/how it is made. This came as recommended by the waiter so we were delighted we went with it.
To finish, we had some dessert! It was a banana split of sorts with the most beautiful ice-cream. I am not a banana lover so I didn’t taste that part so I scoffed the ice-cream my date didn’t get her spoon into fast enough. It was the perfect way to finish the evening.
Thank you so much to the Good Nights Restaurant team for such warm hospitality, great food and wine recommendations and most importantly the food that filled us. We had such a beautiful evening and I highly recommend a visit!
