A visit to Collective Espresso is always a brunch date to look forward to! It’s close to public transport, easy to park beside and not so packed that you can’t have a conversation with your brunch date. The menu has been recently updated, however, I really don’t need an excuse to revisit!
I love the outdoor seating at Collective Espresso but it was a chilly morning so we opted to sit indoors. We browsed the menu and ordered our coffees. We ordered the Sweetcorn fritter stack W/bacon ($19 + $4), Breakfast taco ($17.50) and we also had the Gravity cake V 2.0 ($18.50)
My dish was the Breakfast Taco. This is definitely not my usual kind of dish to order and that’s exactly why I picked it. I loved the egg with this dish, I probably would have had one less taco and replaced it with an egg as the portion size is huge! I genuinely could not finish it and believe me, I tried! The pulled pork was tender and juicy and sat on some fresh crunchy veggies. The sauce drizzled over the top of the tacos really finished off the dish for me.
The second dish was the fritters which were presented in a stack and sandwiched between some smashed avocado. The position of the poached egg on top meant that the yolk oozed beautifully down the sides. The whipped goats cheese look like little meringues and they complimented the avocado. We added bacon to this dish and would happily recommend doing so.
Lastly, we enjoyed the famous Gravity Pancakes 2.0. This dish is one that on the Collective Espresso menu that will always be there. I think this might have been the first gravity dish I saw and thought it was so cool! Most importantly, the pancakes are light and fluffy, practically perfect. I feel like I’ve been saying that alot lately, I’ve been eating some great pancakes! The berry compote and whipped poppyseed cream work so well with the pancakes. The fresh popcorn is welcome on this dish as the caramel popcorn is too hard to bite into. Overall, this is a dish to please the body, mind and soul.
Thank you to the team at Collective Espresso for having us in to try out the new menu, as always, we were stuffed leaving you!
