Zeins Authentic| Heidleberg

When I was invited to dine at Zeins Authentic I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Heidleberg is a very unexplored suburb for me and yet it is so close by. We were absolutely gobsmacked to find that most of the breakfast menu is gluten free and meets so many other dietary requirements too.

Luckily for me, I had invited a friend who is vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free. We couldn’t believe how many choices she had on menu and we were literally able to share everything.

I was interested in the fritters, the pancakes and the Shakshuka but decided on something completely different and went for the Chilli Soujuk Scramble ($21). I ordered my usual Long Black also. My plus one was in her element and unusually spoilt for choice. she was awesome interested in the fritters but decided to go with the Nourish Bowl ($19) and a Chai. We also ordered Zeins Pancakes ($20) to share.

After ordering, the lovely Sam came over and introduced herself. She explained that she had recently teamed up with her Dad to invigorate the menu, and that she did. We were curious as to why there were so many gluten free options and guess who was gluten free herself? We all agreed that most cafes/restaurants only have a few gluten free options and they created a menu where nearly every dish was either gluten free or had a gluten free option.

First up is the Nourish Bowl…my my did it look amazing! This dish is jam packed with ingredients and complimentary favours. If you are feeling hungry, this is the dish for you! Some of the standout elements of the dish were the beetroot hummus, spiced beans and sweet potato.

Next up is the Chilli Soujuk Scramble.. yum! The chilli flavour was mild and made room for the flavour from the chunks of chorizo, no complaints from me! The bread was fresh, fluffy, light and surprisingly, soft. Sam told us that the bread at Zeins Authentic is pretty special and meets a variety of dietary requirements. To have potato in the scramble is something I have never tasted before and loved it!

We finished off with the pancakes! I’m about to make a big statement and say that these pancakes are amongst the best I have ever tasted. The fact that they are gluten free and dairy free, is such an added bonus and appeals to those friends who have dietary requirements. We really enjoyed adding the chocolate sauce to the pancakes and having peanut butter on the side. The dairy free ice-cream was a great addition to this dish and I was so happy to see my friend enjoying it.

We had a beautiful breakfast experience and are really keen to come back and check out the dinner menu with our partners.
