Get Into The Kitchen-Lasagne

Who doesn’t love a great lasagne! Perfect for enjoying with garlic bread, a side salad or even on its own. I have always loved the convenience of a lasagne and don’t get me started on the amount of cheese you can add…optional of course!

  • Makes 6 portions
  • Oven at 180 degrees

Ingredients

Meaty Layer:

  • 500g mince meat
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 tined chopped tomatoes
  • 4tbspns tomato paste
  • 30g of spinach (small handful)
  • Lasagne sheets (I a used gluten free option)
  • Seasoning-pepper, salt, chives, oregano
  • Cheese for topping (optional)
  • Parmesan and fresh parsley to serve (optional)

White Sauce Layer:

  • 30g butter
  • 1/3 cup of gluten free flour
  • 2 1/2 cups of milk
  • 30g cheese

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180° fan-forced
  2. With oil in a pan, fry onions, garlic and seasoning for 4mins
  3. Add mince meat and fry until brown
  4. Add tomatoes and tomato paste and stir through
  5. Simmer for 10mins
  6. Add spinach and simmer for 1minute before removing from heat

White Sauce:

  1. In a sauce pan, melt butter on a medium heat
  2. Add flour and stir continuously for 1min to ensure it does not stick to the pan
  3. Turn down to a low heat, add milk and whisk to ensure that the mixture mixes with the milk- don’t let it go lumpy
  4. When the mixture begins to thicken, add cheese and continue to stir for another 1min
  5. Take off the heat and allow it to cool slightly

Assembly

  • Layer meat mixture, white sauce and top with lasagne sheets
  • This recipe will make 2 layers usually
  • Top with remainder of white sauce, sprinkle with cheese and parsley
  • Cover with foil so the top does not burn
  • Bake for 20mins covered, remove cover and bake for a further 5mins
  • Serve with a sprinkle of parmesan and fresh parsley

Tip
  • Cut the lasagne when it has cooled slightly
  • Portion up and store for reheating at a later time!
