Hidden down a side street, Manchester Press is quite the busy little hideaway. This one was recommended by a friend so I didn’t even check the menu before walking in.
On arrival, there were a few people standing outside. We soon learned that you sign yourself on the waitlist and wait patiently. Thankfully we didn’t have long to wait for two spots at a communal table. I browsed the menu and saw a few things that caught my eye, but no eggs! Nevertheless, we patiently waited for someone to take our order and I ended up asking the waitress if we could order. She rolled her eyes and stood in front of us without saying a word, maybe she had a bad morning but it made us feel very uncomfortable!
I ordered a Long Black and a Green Tea for Mini Me. I went with the Rueben $14 and Mini Me ordered the 14 Hour BBQ Pulled Pork $16.
Coffee was ok, it tasted quite bitter so I tried adding sugar to improve it but no joy. Mini Me enjoyed her tea though.
This was my dish, the Reuben. It didn’t look very appetizing and the taste was not good! The description should be sauerkraut and thousand island dressing with pastrami. The balance of this bagel was all wrong for me and I’ll leave it at that.
Mini Me’s pulled pork was a little better. She has a decent amount of pork in her bagel but the slaw was quite soggy. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to say for this bagel either as the bbq taste in the pork was quite subtle making the bagel quite bland.
As popular as this place seems to be, it’s not going to be somewhere I will return to in a hurry.
