Whipped Bake Bar Cafe | Semaphore, Adelaide

We decided to explore Port Adelaide and we started our morning with the most important meal of the day…breakfast!

I browsed through Zomato and Instagram for ideas on where we should go and I spotted Whipped Bake Bar Cafe in Semaphore. It was a beautiful morning in Adelaide and a picturesque drive out to Semaphore.

We walked into the cafe and noticed it was quite long and spacious with an outdoor area at the very back, this is where we decided to sit. All areas are spacious and the outdoor area is pet friendly.

Back to ordering! I must admit, I really liked the menu! It had a wide range of options from healthy to slightly unhealthy choices and light to filling meals.

I have been in a bit of an Eggs Benedict mood over the weekend so after considering the Apple & Buttermilk Pancakes ($14.90), I went with my initial thought and ordered the Eggs Benedict w/Smoked Salmon ($16.90) with an additional Hash Brown ($3). Ms. F also fancied the Eggs Benedict ($16.90) and went with the option of bacon. Ms. D kept it healthy and went for the Smashed Organic Avocado (16.50).

Ms. F decided on a smoothie to accompany her breakfast and Ms. D and I went for our usual coffees.

Our drinks arrived shortly after we ordered and I loved the coffee art. I ordered a large Latte but I found that it was extremely milky so I asked a passing waitress for another shot of coffee and she happily obliged. Ms. F had a delicious smoothie so overall, we were happy.

Ms. D’s breakfast arrived first! What is eye-catching on this dish…the haloumi cigar! I have never come across something like this on a breakfast dish and it was a great addition! The eggs were perfectly poached and the avocado and goats cheese were both generous portions. It took Ms. D a little longer to finish her breakfast so this is definitely a filling menu option as all of ‘the green’ bulks up the dish too.

Both Eggs Benedicts arrived at the same time. I had one overcooked egg and one perfectly poached egg.  There was a fairly generous portion of salmon and fresh spinach. There was a decent amount of hollandaise over the eggs, just about enough for each bite. The hash brown was enjoyable but a second one would have been great in regards to portion size. Overall, it was a nice dish but not the best I’ve ever had.

Ms. F got two perfectly poached eggs, I was jealous! The rest of the dish was more or less the same as mine. There was an acceptable sized portion of bacon on her dish but there was a lot of fat still attached. Ms. F enjoyed her dish and polished it off!

Semaphore is a beautiful place to visit and reminds me a lot of a little seaside town at home in Ireland. Whipped serves an All Day Brunch Menu from 7am to 2.30pm and a short walk to the beach. Check out what else we got up to here.
