I am certainly making my way through the long list of new cafes popping up all over Melbourne. One of the most recent places I have have visited is Turning Point in Ripponlea. I was invited in to check out the menu… you had me at brekkie date.

Turning Point is located right beside Ripponlea train station making it extremely accessible, there is also quite a bit of parking outside too. Inside is open and airy with Scandinavian vibes.

It was a pretty chilly morning so the first thing we ordered was a coffee. I went with my usual Long Black and Miss. C went for a Green Tea. I noticed quite a few people in for take away coffees so I think there are many loclas who are fans of the coffee.

We had a quick browse of the menu and both hovered over the same two dish and decided to order one of each, Eggs Benny with avocado ($19.50 + $4) and the Truffle Scramble ($22).

Coffee arrived and the bean was delicious. Miss. C really liked her Green Tea and we love her it was presented. After a little time to catch up and chat, our breakfast arrived to the table together.

I don’t usually go for scrambled eggs over poached eggs on a menu, however, the idea of truffle scramble just appealed to me. This is definitely a complete dish as it has quite a large portion of trout to accompany the brioche and the scrambled eggs. Let’s get back to those eggs, they were delicious! The eggs were silky and smooth and not dry, just the way I like my eggs! There was a subtle hint of truffle and I really enjoyed the trout with the buttery taste of the brioche. I couldn’t fault this dish and I would certainly order it again.

Miss C’s eyes lit up as her plate was placed in front of her, I’m not sure if it was the look of the dish or the amount of food on it, wow, what a portion! First off, the eggs used a beautiful yellow yolk when pierced and drizzled and sides of the beef brisket. The beef brisket it’s self was a very large portion but had a delicious flavour and was moist.
