Vegie Bar | Fitzroy

There are so many great eateries to explore in Fitzroy and there is something to suit everyone’s palette and needs!

We ended up in Vegie Bar due to being indecisive as to where we wanted to have lunch. I am glad we picked this place. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived so we weren’t sure what to think. Nevertheless, we mulled over our menus and thought about what we wanted.

I decided to stay in my usual comfort zone and ordered a Baked Eggs dish from the specials, it was the spicy sauce that caught my eye.

Mr. B was ravenous and ordered a Korean Steamed Slider ($7) to start and the Tofu Zinger Burger ($14) to arrive after it.

We received all of the dishes together and I wondered if we had ordered too much. The Slider looked so tasty, I really wanted to eat it myself.

My dish was rather large and the spicy bean sauce looked very rich in colour.

Unfortunately my eggs were over cooked and I wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce, it tasted like tomato paste and it was not what I expected. The only thing I liked on the dish was the accompanying bread which tasted extremely fresh!

Mr. B was impressed with the size of his burger but when he bit into it, it was literally a slab of tofu in batter. His favourite part of this dish were the sweet potato fries, who doesn’t like sweet potato fries!

While we were not huge fans of our dishes as a whole, there is a lot to explore on the menu so we might give it another shot at a later date.
