On a warm Saturday morning, we met for a catch up brunch at Rustica. A great and prominent location for a cafe with lots of parking available.
We quickly realised that there was no air-con in the venue so the sweats were real but I doubt this will be an issue over the future months. We browsed the menu and ordered the usual coffees.
I’ll start with the menu, it was great, simply put! There are a lot of great options on the menu no matter what your taste buds are. I was tossing up the Chilli Scrambled Eggs ($20) and the Baba Ganoush ($19). As Mr. B wanted the Chilli Scramble, I decided to go with the Baba Ganoush.
This was not a great day for a chilli scrambled eggs when it was already so warm but the dish itself was tasty, I had a little bit of food envy. The portion size was good, however, this one has an additional egg added. Mr. B said he would definitely order this dish again.
I think this dish was the least favourite of them all as it did not have much flavour besides the taste of the greens themselves. Miss B said that a little bit more of the white bean hummus smeared on the bottom of the plate would have been a great addition to the dish.
If you go to Rustica hungry, this is the dish for you. The bacon is a great accompaniment for this dish and most importantly, the eggs were poached perfectly!
This was my dish and I really enjoyed it. I love haloumi on a breakfast dish for that salty kick. I also had beautifully poached eggs and loved the freshness of the greens. I felt it was a little overpriced as there wasn’t much to the dish but enjoyed it all the same.
My only disappointment was when we went to leave, my partner sat on a seat that had been varnished and ended up with the seat pattern on the back of his white shirt. When I mentioned it to the waitress at the till, she shrugged at me and asked what I was paying for, I was disappointed by this. This customer service has impacted my rating unfortunately.
