We had a group catch up at Axil Coffee Roasters, what a great spot for a group! The menu is great, there are lots of options to suit every kind of brekkie lover and caters for dietary requirements also.
We had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table at Axil Coffee Roasters but we were happy to do so as we browsed the menu during this time. Seated in the corner by the door, we were well positioned to see so many beautiful dishes coming out of the kitchen and it made it really hard to choose a dish but we did it. As we were at Axil Coffee Roasters, of course we each ordered a coffee too.
This is was probably the dish that caught all eyes, Mr. B ordered the Scrambled Eggs on Toast. With the popcorn topping, it made quite the tasty dish. There are two slices of bread on this dish as Mr. B requested an extra slice and of course he added an additional egg so you may find that your dish is a little bit smaller than this one if you order it.
This was my dish, the Beetroot Waffle ($21) and I really enjoyed it! As soon as I pierced the eggs, the yolk oozed out across the salmon and beetroot waffles. I enjoyed every single flavour in this dish and would happily order it again. The beetroot waffles were especially pleasing in regards to the look, texture and taste and I would consider them quite unique!
This dish, the Baked Eggs ($19 + $1.50 for gluten free bread) was the gluten free and dairy free choice of the day. The person who ate this dish commented that the sauce was rather interesting with quite a kick and not quite what she expected. The gluten free bread on the other hand was delicious.
Without a doubt, I would certainly recommend Axil Coffee Roasters and have no doubt that we will venture back there again. I believe there are a couple of outlets in Melbourne so maybe there is one close to you.
My Rating: 4.5
